Survey System 9.0 Preview

Next Release of Inquisite Survey System to Feature Interactive Analytics and User Interface

When analyzing data and preparing it for presentation to key audiences and decision-makers, flexibility and customization are key to delivering relevant and easily understandable results. With the next release of the Inquisite Survey System, coming this summer, you will have greater control over creating and generating reports with a new, interactive analytics engine and user interface.

"The enhancements to our analytics engine in version 9.0 represent the ongoing evolution of our survey product. With more dynamic and interactive reporting, version 9.0 makes it easier for end users to interpret results for key audiences — delivering a faster time to information and lower cost of understanding," said Inquisite Chief Executive Officer Arturo Coto.

The Version 9.0 analytics engine offers several benefits: reducing the need to export data to Excel or other programs for customization, greater flexibility to change the look and feel of reports, and eliminating the need to run multiple reports. According to Product Development Manager Paul Saletan, the vision for Version 9.0 enhancements was to provide an easy way to explore and present results with the ability to drill down to specific data, as well as customize reports in real-time without the repetitive work of setting conditions, as in the existing reporting tool.

Visual Interface
Inquisite's new visual interface. Features and design subject to change.

"Our goal is to provide an intuitive visual interface that lets our customers focus on their data instead of the report generation steps. They can make changes, one at a time, and see the results immediately on-screen. When they're satisfied with the look of their report, they can 'bind it up' into a comprehensive document with as much or as little detail as they want," said Paul.

Version 9.0 simplifies reporting with three simple steps to generating customized reports within the new interactive engine:

1. Preview Your Report

You will see results instantly with the new default summary report that includes all questions as originally presented in the survey. There is no need to execute a specific report. And you will be able to scroll through the default report, question by question, and drill down to filter the results by subsets of respondents.

All answer types are now presented together in the default report: summary count and percent, text and paragraph, and charts.

2. Perfect Your Report

From the default report, you can easily select only those questions you wish to present. You can view changes dynamically as you customize and build your report. You can also produce a single comprehensive report, with control over what sections to include such as:

Top-line summary

  • Count and percent frequencies, including charts customized by question
  • User-defined answer groups to condense scales and produce roll-ups like top and bottom boxes
  • Table questions summarized and totaled in a grid format
  • Statistics such as mean and median for questions with weighted answers or numeric validation

Cross-tabulations with multiple questions in the banner

  • Verbatim comments detail can be included as an optional appendix to the report
  • Report settings can be saved to allow you to repeat the report without re-defining your customizations

3. Produce Your Report

Your report is automatically rendered in PDF format and can be previewed in your browser prior to printing or sharing. You control the exact sections to include — only the top-line summary, or include charts, cross-tabulations, and open-ended comments.

When the 9.0 analytics enhancements are released, you will still be able to access your legacy reports and data exports from the new report menu. You will have the option of generating reports using the legacy system or Excel plug-in where appropriate. However, you will likely find immediate use for the new analytics engine as a convenient way to assemble a finished presentation of your results.

You will hear more about version 9.0 as the summer release gets closer.
