Multi-Language Kit (MLK)
The Inquisite Multi-Language Kit allows you to translate the phrases in an Inquisite survey into multiple languages, including languages that use multi-byte character sets such as Japanese and Chinese. From the survey builder, you can add the desired languages to any survey. Each language can have its own unique settings including character set, number format, and date format. Inquisite allows respondents to choose which language to take the survey in. Alternatively, survey administrators can specify the language for a respondent via the Inquisite Invitation Management system.
Translations can be entered directly in the survey builder or via the Translator, a companion utility that is included with the MLK. The Translator can load any Inquisite survey that has more than one language. You can translate phrases directly in the Translator or you can double-click on a specific target phrase to launch the phrase editor dialog, which provides a larger field for text entry as well as the ability to switch target languages within the dialog itself. To support multiple locales and language systems, the Translator allows you to change both the font and the character set of your phrases. To provide context information, you can also preview the survey at any time from the Options menu. The survey will be displayed in the current target language and you will be able to see any translations you have made up to that point.
The Translator does not translate phrases automatically, but instead provides a centralized interface that is well-suited to translating all the phrases of a survey. If you outsource your translation services, the Inquisite Translator can be distributed to your translation service provider to allow them to translate your survey file directly, eliminating the need to manually export and import the translations.
