Major New Release of Web Survey Solution Features Data Pre-Population, Response Editor, Advanced Data-Sharing, Enhanced Templates

AUSTIN, TEXAS - January 19, 2004 - Inquisite today announced the release of Inquisite 6, an automated web survey system for enterprises across multiple industries and professional disciplines that deploy online surveys for high-volume data collection. This latest version of Inquisite offers survey managers greater flexibility via data pre-population capabilities, a new response editor, advanced data-sharing, and enhanced templates and styles.

Inquisite is designed for business users who want to create, deploy and manage their own custom web surveys. Typical users include professionals in human resources, corporate research, customer relationship management (CRM) and marketing.

Paramount Parks, the theme park division of the multi-billion-dollar entertainment giant Viacom, has found that the Inquisite survey system is an efficient and reliable way to poll segments of the more than 12 million guests who visit its theme parks around the world. Mark Kupferman, corporate director of research, has conducted more than 55 surveys using Inquisite since acquiring the application in December 2002. The surveys, which have netted about 100,000 individual responses, measure guests' satisfaction with the rides, dining, shopping, games and shows at each park.

"The flexibility of Inquisite makes it possible for us to easily collect both quantitative and qualitative data about our guests' experiences. Results from the guest satisfaction surveys are distributed to each area of each of our parks on a weekly basis and are used to make almost immediate adjustments to the way we satisfy our guests," Kupferman said.

Automated Features Enable Better Surveys

  • Pre-population of Data. Inquisite's powerful pre-population feature allows users to import data into a survey from an external data file (.csv, .txt) and map it to the survey content. This powerful feature allows personalization of surveys and makes data, such as demographics, available for reporting without actually asking respondents for the information.
  • Response Editor. A database editor offers survey administrators the ability to more effectively manage data once responses have been received. Users can edit individual responses, batch updates for groups of respondents and delete respondents from the database.
  • Advanced Data-Sharing. Inquisite's advanced data-sharing capabilities allow administrators to give others in an organization the ability to access survey data. The dataset also can be constrained by allowing the sharing of specific data with specific users.
  • Enhanced Styles and Templates. Inquisite's enhanced templates and styles allow a survey administrator to change the entire look of a survey instantly and consistently.

Other advanced features include: the ability to randomize questions in tables; enhanced multi-select validation, which allows survey administrators to specify that a multi-select question is "required" and define a minimum and maximum number of choices that can be selected to pass validation; and the ability to schedule published reports, which allows the data behind a report to be refreshed at specified time intervals so people accessing reports can return regularly to obtain up-to-date results.

Through Inquisite's improved system administration interface, account and survey management is made easier with enhanced summaries of accounts and surveys, including more statistics and sorting capabilities. In addition, the System Administration home page has been redesigned to be more user-friendly.

Building Relationships One Customer at a Time

Pier 1 Imports (NYSE: PIR), North America's largest specialty retailer of imported decorative home furnishings and gifts, began using the Inquisite survey system in March. Since then, Pier 1 has used the software to obtain customer feedback about its web site and bridal gift registry, as well as to measure customers' awareness of its support of philanthropic organizations. Using Inquisite, the company is now able to conduct surveys more frequently and with greater personalization to monitor customers' changing tastes and opinions, according to Lorie Poe, Pier 1's marketing research analyst.

"Inquisite is an efficient, cost-effective means for us to talk to our customers, no matter where they are, at a time that's convenient for them. In-store customers aren't always able to answer a series of questions about their shopping experience, and reaching them at home via phone can be intrusive. Inquisite allows the customer to provide feedback at a time that's best for them," Poe said.

Inquisite is available both as a hosted ASP solution and as a product directly installed on a customer's server. Inquisite's server software supports Windows NT Server, Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2003 Server. The Survey Builder software supports Windows 98 and ME, Windows NT, XP, 2000 and 2003. Pricing starts at $6,000 for a single-user license to $60,000 and up for corporate licenses.
