American Diabetes Association Leverages Inquisite Web Surveys For Its America's Walk for Diabetes

Web Survey Technology Plays Critical Role in Marketing Strategy for Nationwide Event

AUSTIN, TEXAS - October 26, 2004 - Inquisite, a leading provider of do-it-yourself online survey technology, today announced that the American Diabetes Association (ADA) is using Inquisite survey software to enable the success of America's Walk for Diabetes®, its signature fundraising event. More than 250 Walk sites nationwide participate, with events held throughout the spring and fall

The ADA is the nation's leading nonprofit health organization providing diabetes research, information and advocacy. Founded in 1940, the ADA conducts programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, reaching hundreds of communities. More than 18.2 million people in the United States-or 6.4 percent of the population-have diabetes.

Survey Feedback Fuels Marketing Strategy
The ADA surveyed more than 16,000 participants after its 2003 Walk with questions designed to gather data that would drive marketing and targeting strategies in 2004. "This survey reflects our decision to take an aggressive approach to making Inquisite online surveys a major component of our marketing plan," said Marty Moore, director of strategic marketing for the Association

In addition to measuring standard demographics, respondents were asked how they heard about the event, other ways they are currently active in the ADA, and how far they traveled to the local Walk site. The ADA reports that the Inquisite software made it possible to localize the survey so that the marketing strategy for the 2004 event could be geographically tailored to optimize participation.

"Inquisite provides a high level of flexibility that makes it easy to change survey variables for specific audiences," Moore said. "That's proven to be key to enabling the ADA to realize maximum leverage from this Web survey technology."

Success Means More Surveys
The ADA began working with Inquisite in 2003 after a competitive analysis of Web survey products. "We required an online survey solution that enabled sophisticated data analysis, as well as being easy to use, highly scalable, extremely reliable and rapid to deploy. We are highly satisfied with the way Inquisite has fulfilled each of these requirements," Moore said

Not only does the Web survey technology deliver higher response rates than phone or paper surveys-20 percent is typical for the ADA-but notable cost savings can also be achieved. For example, an Inquisite survey conducted with cyclist participants in the annual Tour de Cure® fundraising event earlier this year resulted in extremely quick feedback while saving paper, printing and postage costs estimated at over 80 cents per survey, according to Moore

Based on this successful track record, the ADA has made Inquisite online surveys an integral part of its marketing research. "From sending out just 12 surveys in year one, we expect to send out approximately 50 surveys in the second year of using this technology," Moore said. "Inquisite's survey technology provides a level of increased cost-effectiveness, productivity and ease of implementation that makes it a critical component of the ADA marketing mix."

Inquisite is available as a hosted ASP solution or as a product directly installed on a server. Survey administrators can perform a range of management functions, including activating and deactivating surveys, setting response limits and cut-off dates, purging surveys, viewing reports and publishing results on the Web. The Inquisite server software supports Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers. Inquisite's Survey Builder software supports Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT and all versions of Windows XP
