Women's Adventure Race uses Inquisite Surveys to Prepare for Nationwide Events

Survey results used to make changes, procure sponsorships

Austin, Texas - November 24, 2003 - Inquisite Inc. has teamed with Austin Adventure to support the efforts of the Young Survival Coalition using web-based survey technology and services. Austin Adventure hosted the first annual Women's Adventure Race benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank and the Young Survival Coalition, an international, non-profit network of breast cancer survivors and supporters. Jason Mittman, race director, presented a check for $7500 to the Young Survival Coalition and almost 1,000 cans of food to the Capital Area Food Bank. Using Inquisite's automated survey software, race organizers surveyed participants and volunteers on ways to make future events even more successful.

The race attracted 450 area women of all ages who were interested in experiencing the sport of adventure racing in a supportive environment while giving back to the Austin community. The competition consisted of outdoor activities, team-building games and mind challenges, including 4.5 miles of hiking and 9.5 miles of mountain biking and tubing.

Working with Mittman, Inquisite provided survey technology and hosting services to gather feedback on the success of the event. The surveys collected the demographics of racers and volunteers, how they learned about the event and any suggestions for next year's event.

Expecting only a 5% response rate, Mittman was surprised at the 30% response rate and the amount of specific feedback he received on the event. Attributing the higher response rate to Inquisite's web survey technology, Mittman commented, "The feedback made me realize that we had a great event and a concept that could be implemented nationwide. I don't think we would have gotten anywhere near these response numbers if we had done a paper survey."

The survey results allowed race organizers to measure the success of the event, as well as more fully appreciate the varying perspectives of racers and volunteers and to focus on areas of improvement for next year's event.

"The Inquisite surveys were so easy to build and send out. I saved so much time by using Inquisite to generate clear, graphical results. I was able to go right to a problem area and immediately begin planning changes for future events." Mittman said he also planned to use survey data to fine-tune sponsorship recruiting activities.

"Inquisite has been a proud member of the Austin high-tech community since we opened our doors in 1997," said Meg Murphy, Inquisite's president. "We know our area charities want to deliver more value and spend less on infrastructure, so we're happy to provide the technology to do both."
